We have had a very busy month! First I went to Portland and Tacoma to spend a few days with family! I spent a week total in the northwest and got a good dose of rain, great seafood, and best of all, family time! The week after I got back to Little Rock, Mike had to take off for his first TDY (temporary duty) to Savannah, GA. He did a lot of night flying and even got to watch people jump out of the back of the plane! He had fun, but I'm glad he was only gone for a few days!
While Mike was gone I started training courses with the Red Cross. I have already taken 4 classes and have one to go before I'm fully trained in disaster relief! I currently know how to start, run, close, and fully manage a shelter, as well as how to do damage assessment after a disaster. My last class is for the ERV (emergency response vehicle) in which I will have to learn how to drive the ambulance like vehicles (yikes!) and serve food out of them for what we call Mass Care. I will also be writing an account of the Red Cross in AR as the "local historian." Don't laugh, it's just a title. Basically I will interview people and go through pictures and basic info on when, where, and how the RC started in Arkansas.
There are quite a few pictures. Enjoy the especially adorable ones of Jack and Olivia!
