First Married Independence Day and Birthdays!

The rumors are true! We are buying a house! We looked at many houses when we first arrived here in Little Rock and we have been planning details for the last couple weeks. We decided on a three bedroom, two and a half bath, good sized kitchen, living room, and yard! We expect to close on the house on the 15th of July and have already been planning and pricing updates we hope to make right after we move in! The kitchen floor needs to be done first, followed by the kitchen counter and some landscaping of the backyard. We will post pictures when we finally get in the house!

Mike and I have been settling into our temporary housing nicely. The base bowling alley is directly out our current back door, so we've made a few trips for cheap date nights. Exploring downtown and the west side of town has been an adventure. There is a good variety of things to see and restaurants to try. For the Fourth we went to a place called The Purple Cow. DELICIOUS burgers and a bright purple milkshake for dessert! I have never seen a purple roof or a purple milkshake before.

Bugs are a small problem we deal with everyday. There were two or three days when we got some lovely cockroaches. Mike happily escaped the killing of any roaches by being out of the house every single time I found one, but I guess I'm pretty good at getting them out of my way now.

We have had a chance to check out the climbing gym a time or two, unfortunately it is 35 minutes away so we don't get to go as often as we would like. Luckily we have a really great gym on base that's open pretty much all the time. There is also a nice outdoor running track that will be great when the weather cools off a few degrees.

Our birthday's fell at a great time this year. Mike had a four day weekend! We did pizza and a movie for his birthday, and mini-golf for mine. (Next time we'll go after dinner...it was a bit hot). We went down to the water front for the forth to see the fireworks show on the river. See Pictures! Tomorrow I head out to Portland to help Michael and Kate prepare for the new baby, and Mike will get some extra study time. :)

Fun Story - Prior to our first grocery shopping trip Mike and I spent fifteen minutes searching for a notebook, on which we had written our shopping list. Finally, I looked in a desk drawer that we had never opened and at the same moment heard my husband's voice behind me, "Oh...that's where I put it."
